Purpose
Shackles are designed for connecting single-core overhead power cables (cables with a cross-section of 1×120 mm² or larger) at line junctions. They provide electrical contact between the cables and support the mechanical load (the weight of the cable itself and the conductor).
1.SK-type shackles: Have a stationary (fixed) bolt, which simplifies installation (no need for additional tools) when connecting cables of the same diameter.
2.SKD-type shackles: Have an adjustable bolt, allowing connection of cables with different diameters (this compensates for dimensional variations in conductors, even under mechanical stress like wind).
Application & Protection
Shackles are used in overhead power lines and are protected from corrosion (due to their design). They are operated in an outdoor environment at temperatures ranging from -60°C to +50°C.
